Mine Services

Professional mine services have been a specialty of WWC’s since we formed, one year after enactment of the 1977 Surface Mine Control and Reclamation Act. Since then WWC professionals have been working with the largest and most progressive surface coal mines in the world, helping them design and permit mining and reclamation plans that comply with the state and federal regulations that followed SMCRA. Most of these mines are in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming and Montana, but WWC has also provided consulting services for mines in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana and even Australia. 

Typical WWC services include:

          compliance documents

·         Hydrologic and geologic baseline

          studies

·         Mine and reclamation plan design and

          permitting

·         Mine infrastructure design (roads, channel crossings, water distribution and

          wastewater collection systems)

·         Overburden dewatering system

·         Wetland delineation and restoration

·         Hydrologic impact assessment
